They were easy to find and the guy working the front was great but the food just wasn't all that great and our waitress, while nice, seemed at best distracted. Saw our food sitting at the counter for awhile before we actually received it. Locals seemed to order a lot of their breakfast stuff, that may be better then their lunch/dinner stuff. I will say their Dr. Pepper and fries were fantastic. One caveat, I did go the weekend of the balloon fiesta, so they may have been busier then they were used to.
We really wanted to like this place. The reviews made it seem so promising. However, we were very disappointed this evening. They were not busy, so we were seated promptly in a corner booth. We waited a while before a waitress finally came by and asked if we were ready to order. We started ordering drinks and food when she asked if anyone had taken our drink order, to which we said no. She apologized. My husband and I ordered coffee, which was not brought out with the other drinks. Our food came a short while later and we had to ask for our coffee again. The food was barely warm, except for my husband's chicken fried steak. It was actually hot and tasted good. The pancakes were all yellowish colored, but the flavor was fine. We never got refills or had anyone check on us. My husband had to ask for the ticket at the check-out counter. The dining room was fairly clean; the bathrooms were gross. Maybe it's better in the mornings.
Good food with great service. We LOVE Michael. Great dessert selection. Cute gift shop. Big rig parking in back. Perfect choice while in Santa Rosa!
Very good place to stop if you're in the mood for some comfort food. I had the chicken fried steak along with a milkshake (which was absolutely delicious). The restaurant is comfortable, quiet, and just a good place to relax. Their Route 66 gift shop is very neat.
Great little diner, lovely staff. Typical diner fare with all-day breakfast. Good portion sizes. A nice find along a deserted highway.
